Sound

Finding the Thread

The same impulse keeps showing up: find the thread, follow it back, connect what looks unrelated. Sometimes that meant programming a room. Sometimes it meant writing about why Lee Perry matters seventy years in. The format changed; the instinct didn't.

Curation

Selection and preservation across formats.

A weekly residency, a radio show, regular bookings across the East Coast, live recordings from taper-friendly artists, and a digital archive spanning world music, out-of-print reggae, and electronic music. Different formats, same work: finding what matters and making sure it survives.

Lineage

Tracing the lines between genres, scenes, and decades.

Contributions to NPR Music and Big Up Magazine. A blog that spent years connecting genres most people filed separately. Less interested in reviews than in lineage.

Orchestration

The infrastructure behind the music.

A recurring event series in Atlanta, weekly and monthly, alongside press and artist relations for an independent record label. Two sides of the same problem: getting the right music in front of the right room.
